I would be honored to have your support as I seek re-election to the Fourteenth Court of Appeals. After Governor Rick Perry appointed me to the court in 2007, I stood for election in 2008 to serve out an unexpired term. I was one of the fortunate judges who prevailed in 2008, and I now have the opportunity to seek re-election to a full six-year term. The Fourteenth Court of Appeals hears appeals in civil and criminal cases. The court serves the millions of people who live in Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Waller, and Washington Counties.
I was born and raised in the Chicago area. I met my wife, Maria, at Northwestern University School of Law. We married after graduation and settled in Houston, her home town, where we have raised our two teen-age daughters.
As a practicing lawyer who argued appeals throughout Texas and across the United States for 18 years, I watched judicial decision-making from a front-row seat. I saw many different approaches to this important task. Now that I bear the responsibility of making the decisions as an appellate judge, I strive to apply the law as written by the legislature to the circumstances of each case. The citizens of Texas deserve nothing less.
Please take the time to go through my website. I hope to merit your support.
Sincerely,
